Ristorante L'Aldila Di Scaliti Umberto

Me and my friends came here two nights ago, upon recommendation of our AirBnB host Kurt - and we were blown away! Umberto and his wife were the most welcoming and charming hosts. They managed to make our night there really special. We received a delicious, (to our dietary preferences) customized tasting menu by the light of only one table candelabra. The atmosphere was enchanting, and we were completely absorbed in the mouth-watering delicacies served, as well as Umberto’s family history and stories about the place itself. The interior, complete with medieval furniture, dishes and decorations, was just as fascinating as the treats offered - all ingredients locally produced or even home grown. The price for this unique dining experience (and that’s what it was - a real experience! ;)) was more than fair, even on the lower side & absolutely worth it! A definite must-visit for all food enthusiasts and worshippers of the peculiar! ;))

What a fantastic experience. In the heart of a small medieval village kept to perfection, there is this restaurant where a friend of mine and college classmate sent us. From the outside you wouldn't even know it's a restaurant. The small door opened by the Lady in a long, black, elegant dress. All by candlelight, he accompanies us to our table, in a room all to ourselves. Eclectic furnishings, a mix of books, antiques and papier-mâché figures produced by the grandmother, who was the creator of the look of the restaurant. The food was exquisite: no pretense of haute cuisine, which in 99 cases out of 100 leaves its mark. Here the Lord does his shopping every day and prepares what he finds, following the local translation and making it elegant. And at the end, a nice certificate of presence handwritten by the grandfather. Compliments.

A wonderful experience, from every point of view, absolutely not to be missed. Incredibly beautiful, well-kept, particular place, where you really feel catapulted into the Middle Ages. The kindness of the hostess and the exquisite foods made us feel like royalty. Unforgettable. We will be back to celebrate anniversaries or birthdays.. 🥰 PS: honest prices for the place it is, well-prepared dishes with excellent raw materials.
